Our national parks are beautiful and unique places, often serving as an introduction to the outdoors and inspiring an appreciation for nature and wilderness. Similarly, stories and storytelling can serve as an introduction to other places and foster a powerful emotional connection to nature.

Best Gifts For Outdoorsy Women Who Love To Hike

Osprey Tempest 20 Hiking Day Pack

Osprey is considered one of the best brands for hiking backpacks and for good reason. Their packs are designed to fit different genders/sexes. They are designed with bigger or smaller framed people in mind, instead of just one size fits all.

The Osprey Tempest 20 backpack makes a fantastic present for outdoor girls. It has a smaller frame for short women (like me!) and the straps are adjustable to fit the right body type. It sits in all the right places to make carrying a heavy load easier. I can carry heavy camera gear, my ten essentials and 2L of water and still be comfortable hiking.

I find the 20L to be the perfect size as it fits just enough and has pockets either side to fit bug spray, bear spray or a water bottle. Check out the Osprey website for more options.

Women’s Salomon X Ultra 3 Mid Hiking Boots

Any avid-hiker would be stoked to receive a good pair of hiking boots. I know and love the Salamon X-Ultra 3 Mid boots. I have worn these on short hikes, long hikes, steep hikes and on wet terrain. They have amazing grip and I feel unstoppable on the hiking trails with them. These boots are made with gore-tex technology making them great for wet or muddy terrain. While not 100% waterproof they are long-wearing and withstand harsh weather.

I really love these boots are they have amazing ankle support and are some of the comfiest boots I’ve ever worn. I’ve been hiking with them for almost two years now and my feet have never rubbed with these boots. A quality pair of hiking boots make a great gift for outdoorsy women, as they are often an investment and will last a long time.

Osprey Water Reservoir 2L or 3L

One of the best purchases I ever made was the Osprey 2L Water Reservoir. While some people prefer to hike with water bottles, I often find that I stop for more breaks on the trail with a bottle. I love the water reservoir because it means I can continue on the trail even if I need water. I also find that because I don’t have to stop continuously to take my daypack off that I actually end up drinking more water.

I have the 2L option and I think that this is the perfect size for me, and you don’t need to fill the reservoir to the top if you are going on a short or quick hike. The 2L adds just enough weight that it’s not overbearing and often I finish the whole 2L by the end of a 5-8 hour hike. This is definitely a great gift for convenience and makes a great gift for outdoor girls.

Headlamp

If you are searching for a gift for an adventurous woman, a headlamp is perfect! A headlamp makes those sunset and sunrise hikes so much easier (who wants to hike in the dark?) and it’s also a great gift for safety reasons. When starting a hike late it’s always important to be prepared to come back in the dark and a headlamp helps navigate the trail.

Hiking or Trekking Poles

Where would I be without my hiking poles? Hiking poles are one of the best outdoorsy gifts for her and are a great affordable option for the hiking woman in your life. I hiked for so long without hiking poles and never really knew the benefit of having them until I actually got them. Hiking can be really hard on the knees, especially on those long steep trails. Hiking poles are a life-saver when navigating rocky, steep or narrow terrain. I know that I could not have completed certain hikes without the help of my hiking poles.

Best Camping Gifts For Outdoor Girls

Osprey Women’s Backpacking Ariel 65 AG Backpack

As with Ospreys hiking daypacks, their backpacking packs are great outdoorsy gifts for women. The Ariel 65L is the perfect size for any backcountry multi-day hike. It is designed specifically for women and smaller framed people. The pack comes with adjustable straps to fit specific body types and you can also customize the pack to fit your torso size.

One of the great things about the Ariel AG 65 model pack is that the top compartment turns into a day pack, so if you have just set up camp and don’t want to lug a 65L backpack around on day hikes, this packable day pack is big enough to hold your hiking essentials. The daypack feature only comes with the AG model and not the standard 65L. Check out more on the Osprey website.

Jetboil Minimo System

The Jetboil system is amazing gift for women who love camping. The jetboil is a versatile gift as it can be used for both backpacking and camping. Jetboil have many systems to choose from but my preference is the minimo. I like the minimo as you can control the temperature and therefore is perfect for those who want to boil water and also simmer. This makes the jetboil minima great for all 4 seasons. Check out more on the Jetboil website

The Hubba Hubba is one of the best backpacking tents out there and a one of the best camping gifts for women. This 3-season 2 person tent is perfect for those backpacking trips and multi-day hikes as it is lightweight and compact. The total weight is 3.5lbs and the Xtreme Shield waterproof coating lasts 3 times longer than standard waterproof coatings. This is a great gift for women who are serious about their backpacking trips.

A Therm-a-Rest sleeping pad is one of the best gifts for an outdoorsy girl, and makes a backpacking trip all the more comfortable. The Therm-a-Rest Prolite sleeping pad is super lightweight and self-inflating, making it perfect for any multi-night hiking trip. The 2.4 R value provides insulation suitable for 3-seasons and ensures comfort and warmth on cold nights. Check out more options on the Therm-a-Rest website.

Best Gifts For Women Who Love Water Sports

Canoe

A canoe has got to be one of the best presents for an outdoor girl. This is something most women won’t purchase themselves as it’s a big investment. The great thing about a good canoe is that it will last years and is something family and friends can get in on! If the woman in your life loves to spend time on the water this a great gift idea, especially for hikes or campsites that require water access! This canoe comes complete with two paddles and luggage-style handles that make transportation easier.

Kayak

Kayaks are also a great gift for women who spend a lot of time on the water on by the lake. They generally on the more affordable side compared to canoes and easier to transport. This Kayak is inflatable and comes complete with a padded adjustable seat for comfort. Also comes with ample storage space to store snacks, which are always a must.

Paddle Board

Personally, my favourite way to spend time on the water is on a paddle board. Any water loving outdoors girl will love receiving a paddle board. This inflatable paddle board comes with fins, paddle, pump and packable bag and is perfect for those beautiful PNW lakes in the summer time.

Best Outdoor Clothing Gifts For Women

A Flannel Shirt

It’s a given that any outdoors woman loves flannel. How will she nail that lumberjack look without one? The red and black plaid is a classic and just screams “cabin vibes” but any flannel/checked design will add to that outdoor aesthetic.

Blundstone Classic 550 Chelsea Boots

While Blundstones are not on the cheap side, they are the best boots I’ve ever purchased, and I own a LOT of boots. Blundstone have amazing grip and a sole that is so comfortable it molds to the shape of your feet, they can even be worn for hiking, I have no regrets buying these. Having finally bit the bullet, I can say with confidence that these are worth the price tag.

Columbia Women’s Arcadia II Rain Jacket

Columbia are one of my absolute favourite outdoor brands and any of their products make great outdoor gifts for her. After all the brand was started by a woman! A rain jacket is a handy item of clothing for any outdoor girl to have in her closet, and the Columbia Arcadia II is the perfect choice as it features Columbias Hydroplus waterproof technology and is lightweight, making it a great piece for layering.

Toque or Beanie

Anything from Herschel Supply is an awesome gift for outdoor woman. Founded in Vancouver, Canada in 2009, Herschel supply is famous for their retro satchel style backpacks. They are a favourite among west-coasters.

They are also famous for their luggage line and toques (what Canadians call a beanie). I own this very hat and it is sooooo warm and really fits that west coast lifestyle aesthetic.

High-waisted Leggings – With Pockets!

If there is one thing that outdoor women love more than a comfy pair of leggings, it’s leggings with pockets. Athletic leggings or yoga pants are always a great gift for female hikers, especially for day hikes. Many women find hiking in yoga pants more comfortable and a high-waist ensures these pants will stay up while scrambling over all those rocky sections!

Darn Tough Hiking Socks

There is a running joke that the average person dislikes receiving socks for Christmas but hikers are the complete opposite, and love receiving socks! A good pair of socks makes all the difference when on a hiking trail, especially for those longer or multi-day hikes.

Darn Tough socks are designed specifically with hikers in mind and are cushioned for extra comfort. These versatile socks are a merino blend material which is fast drying keeping you warm in winter and cool in the summer.

Safety is a top priority when heading into the backcountry and the Zoleo is a great item to gift the outdoors woman in your life. This nifty little device allows you to connect to your smartphone via the Zoleo app in order to keep you connected when outside of cell service. This device is designed for emergency messaging and has an SOS option that tracks your GPS location. I like that the Zoleo is more affordable and cheaper than the Garmin Inreach Mini. This device is waterproof and dust proof and make an awesome addition to any outdoor woman hiking essentials.

Instax Polaroid Camera

An Instax Camera isn’t great for hiking as it’s on the bulky side, however it’s a fantastic item to gift the outdoorsy woman in your life that enjoys capturing memories on road trips or car camping trips.

Solar Powered Wireless PowerBank

A regular power bank is a great addition to add to any hiking and camping essentials list, but if heading on a multi-day backcountry hike there’s no option to recharge that power bank. That’s where a solar powered power bank comes in! This model is shock proof, waterproof and dust proof so it’s perfect for any outdoor adventure woman.

The Canadian summers have shown me that mosquitos love women and it is no fun scratching during a several hour hike. Trust me when I say bug spray is a great stocking stuffer!

Icebreaker Merino Wool Underwear

Underwear might not seem like the most glamorous gift for outdoor women, but it sure is practical!
