- The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel – What better place to stay than the Banff Springs Hotel itself? This luxurious hotel is the ultimate way to experience the castle-like hotel featured in the Surprise Corner viewpoint.
- Banff Park Lodge – The Banff Park Lodge is centrally located, close to Banff Avenue. I stayed here on a recent trip and had the most incredible time, this place cannot be beat on location. But the rooms are some of the biggest and cleanest I’ve experienced in Banff too so I highly recommend! You can walk to Surprise Corner and/or Bow Falls from this hotel.
- Mount Royal – Another hotel that is situated downtown right on Banff Avenue, Mount Royal Hotel is a modern boutique hotel that offers great views and easy access to the town’s amenities.
Parks Canada National Parks Pass Info
If you are visiting or planning a trip to any of Canada’s National Parks (Including Banff, Jasper and, Yoho), you will need to purchase a parks pass. There are a number of options available.
Single Day Admission:
This option is great if you only plan to spend a day or two in a National Park. Valid for one person per day. See the Parks Canada website for current rates. Children 17 or younger are free.
Group Daily Admission:
This is a great option if you have up to 7 people per one vehicle. It is cheaper than purchasing a pass for each person. See the Parks Canada website for current rates.
Parks Canada Discovery Pass:
A discovery Pass is, in my opinion, the best option for people visiting in groups for a week or more. This is an annual pass and is valid from the day you buy it. It will give you 365 days of entry to all of Canada’s National Parks. I purchased this for my 12 day trip to the Banff and Jasper in 2021 and used it 3 more times in Banff in 2022 and another for Pacific Rim in Tofino. If you are planning on traveling around Canada for an extended period of time, this is worth the money!

Final Thoughts: Surprise Corner Viewpoint
I absolutely love Surprise Corner, I really think it’s one of the best viewpoints in Banff, and always takes my breath away. It’s close proximity and easy access also mean it’s a quick stop to add to any Banff itinerary, even if visiting Banff in a day. Plus, it’s close to other attractions, so if you’re already passing by you may as well stop and enjoy the views!
