The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is great to visit any time of year whether it is the Summer or Winter in Whistler. The Summer months offer more activities for day visitors who do not mountain bike or ski. But the winter offers beautiful vistas of snow-capped mountains and is an opportunity to witness the mountains in a blanket of snow.

The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is not open year-round like the Sea to Sky Gondola and does close for a period during the Fall and Spring while the bike park/ski resort is being groomed ready for the next opening. Although these closures do not last very long, it’s important to check opening hours ahead of time before your trip. Closures typically happen between May & June and October & November.

The best time of day to visit the Peak 2 Peak is early in the morning. I would recommend taking the first gondola up, whether it is via the Whistler Mountain Gondola or Blackcomb Gondola. You should expect long lines during peak seasons.

Best Time to Visit Sea to Sky Gondola

The best time to visit the Sea to Sky Gondola is in the late spring, summer and early fall (mid-May to mid-October). Although the Gondola is open year-round, it is better to visit on a sunny clear bluebird day. The summer also means more hours of daylight, however this time generally draws bigger crowds also.

In the warmer months the alpine meadows bloom with wildflowers which is a must-see for any visitor. However the winter is also a great time to visit since there are less people visiting. You can still get bright sunny days in winter but they are not guaranteed.

Squamish also receives a lot less snow than Whistler so you can still experience snow-free days at the Gondola. The best time of day to visit the Sea to Sky Gondola is early in the morning before it fills up with people. I also recommend a sunset visit during the summer to experience golden hour over Howe Sound.
