You may have seen the famed Purebread in Vancouver, but did you know its origins are rooted right here in Whistler? This bakery first started out in Function Junction making bread to accompany Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Vinegar, which you’ll see for sale in most of their stores (P.S. you should buy some because it goes amazingly well with the freshly baked bread!)

Now, when I say their Grilled Cheese with Bacon Jam is a must, I mean it. It’s a heavenly blend of gooey, melted cheese and sweet, smoky bacon jam that will have your taste buds dancing. And don’t even get me started on their Homity Pies! With a flaky crust enveloping a warm filling of potato, leek, and cheese, these pies are an absolute culinary delight.

This place has a line-up almost every time I stop by. The lines really do live up to the hype though – if there is a line during your trip, your patience will pay off – promise!

2. El Furniture Warehouse

El Furniture Warehouse, popularly known as “Furney’s,” is located in the heart of Whistler Village. This eatery is renowned for its eclectic and affordable menu, where every meal is priced at just $5.95. Despite the noise and the ever-present crowd, this spot has gained a reputation for providing the best value for money in Whistler.

A couple of must-try dishes at Furney’s are the Mac n Cheese and the Mushroom Swiss Burger. The mushroom Swiss burger, served with fries and their special macho sauce, is great value for money and one of my go-tos whenever I stop by.

3. Peaked Pies

Peaked Pies, located on the bustling Main Street, is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a unique and budget-friendly dining experience in Whistler Village. This cozy spot, known for its Australian vibes and delicious pies, has become a favourite among both locals and tourists.

Peaked Pies serves traditional Australian meat pies “peaked” with a mouth-watering layer of mushy peas, mashed potatoes, and rich gravy. Each pie is freshly baked and bursting with flavour.

The variety of pies on offer is impressive. Popular options include the Pepper Steak or Traditional Aussie, which includes ground beef, onions, and gravy. For something more unique, opt for the Butter Chicken pie or even The Hopper, featuring kangaroo meat for the truly adventurous. And for the veggie-lovers, there’s a savoury Veggie Medley pie.

4. Main Street Noodles

If you’re looking for Chinese take-out in Whistler, the closest you’ll find is Main Street Noodles. This place is great for a quick casual lunch or for take out. This is a really cheap and cheerful eatery with limited indoor seating.

The noodles are made to order so you’ll always get freshly made food. You can choose the hotness of each dish and which protein to add, if any. They also have daily lunch deals which are really good for saving money. I used to come here often when I worked in Marketplace, which is a local’s secret when it comes to cheap eats in Whistler!

5. Samurai Sushi

Samurai Sushi, located in the Nesters area of Whistler, is a hit with locals for its fresh, flavourful sushi and affordable prices. At Samurai Sushi, the menu is vast, catering to a variety of tastes and diets. From traditional rolls like California and Spicy Tuna to more unique offerings like the Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll.

The nigiri, made with freshly caught fish and perfectly seasoned rice, is another highlight of their menu. The bento boxes and donburi bowls offer a delectable array of flavours and textures, with items like gyoza, salad, miso soup, and edamame accompanying your choice of main.

If you are stopping by for lunch, I recommend the Samurai Special which changes daily and includes a variety of their best dishes, such as a roll, gyoza, salad, donburi, miso soup, and edamame – it’s probably one of the best bang-for-your-buck meal in Whistler!

6. Samurai Bowl

My secret foodie place in Whistler Creekside has to be Samurai Bowl. Operated by the same owners of Samurai Sushi, Samurai Bowl offers a different menu based on poke bowls and Japanese/Korean style dishes.

Tucked away from the typical tourist trail, this hidden gem is loved by locals and offers an authentic, affordable alternative to some of the pricier eateries in town.

The menu is a delicious tour of Japanese cuisine, drawing in the faithful with their rich, steaming bowls of ramen, and flavourful bento boxes. But remember, this spot is our little secret!

7. Zog’s Dogs

Zog’s Dogs is located in the heart of Whistler Village and mere steps from the gondola, is a popular hotspot renowned for its convenient and budget-friendly eats. Zog’s Dogs is hailed as the perfect pit-stop for a quick bite after skiing or snowboarding.

Zog’s was always my go-to when I worked in the Village, for grabbing something quick to eat before work. Zog’s has the most convenient location of all of the places on this list!

Zog’s Dogs boasts a menu with a wide selection of hot dogs, including a vegetarian option. However, what sets them apart is the array of customizable toppings available. From the zesty kick of jalapenos to the satisfying crunch of sauerkraut!

But hot dogs aren’t the only draw here. Zog’s Dogs also serves up mouthwatering poutine, a Canadian staple that’s hard to resist. Imagine crispy french fries, smothered in rich gravy, and speckled with deliciously melted cheese curds – a true comfort food classic.

8. Avalanche Pizza

Avalanche Pizza is an excellent choice for a quick bite on the go, a late-night snack, or a casual outside meal during summer.

Avalanche Pizza offers a mix of classic flavours like cheese and pepperoni, alongside unique creations such as beef taco, greek, and pesto chicken parm. Vegetarian options are also available like the loaded veggie slice.

I’ll be honest, Avalanche Pizza is my least favourite pizza place in Whistler. It was always my go-to spot when leaving a nightclub and going back up to Whistler Blackcomb staff housing at 2am. But it’s hard to get pizza wrong – and this place is great for a quick lunch or bite to eat. I’d also recommend getting the garlic dip – so good!

9. The Deli By Picnic Whistler

If you’re looking to enjoy a satisfying lunch in Whistler without spending a fortune, the Deli by Picnic Whistler ticks all the boxes. First off, the range of choices is impressive. From handmade sandwiches packed with flavour to vegan wraps that are as tasty as they are nutritious.

They also offer a delightful array of deli goods, including high-quality Oyama meats and a variety of local products, adding a unique, local touch to their menu.

Despite the premium quality of their ingredients, the prices at the Deli by Picnic Whistler remain surprisingly affordable. You can indulge in their mouth-watering menu without worrying about overspending. Plus, they cater to different dietary needs with their gluten-free options, so everyone can enjoy a great meal here.

In a nutshell, the Deli by Picnic Whistler combines quality, variety, and affordability, making it one of the top choices for a cheap lunch in Whistler.

10. Fat Tony’s Pizza

As far as non-chain pizza places in Whistler go, Fat Tony’s is one of my favourites. My husband first introduced me to this place and we both love their beef and blue cheese pizza – it is seriously good! But don’t take just our word for it – Fat Tony’s has won numerous awards, including “Best Pizza in Whistler” multiple times.

Unlike Avalanche Pizza, the location of Fat Tony’s is a little harder to find – but the extra effort to find them is more than worth it! Fat Tony’s is located just opposite the Tapley’s Pub and The Core – just next to Buffalo Bills.

11. Chubby Duck’s Donair

It’s about time Whistler got its very own kebab/donair eatery, don’t you agree? Chubby Duck’s Donair is Whistler’s newest cheap eatery, opening in 2923. Opened by the same owner’s of Fat Tony’s Pizza, Chubby Duck’s Donair offers a simple kebab menu at an affordable price under $20!

Chubby Duck’s is located right next to Fat Tony’s. You can choose between chicken, beef or falafel and then your choice of sauce. They also do mouthwatering poutines!

I am super excited to try this place, it’s nice to see somewhere new opening with an entirely different cuisine of what Whistler currently offers.

12. Main Street Poke

Main Street Poke offers something new and exciting on Whistler’s restaurant scene. They specialize in delicious poke bowls that won’t break the bank.

Featuring fresh and vibrant ingredients, expertly combined to create a masterpiece that is not only healthy but also incredibly delicious. You have the freedom to customize and build your own bowl from scratch, exactly the way you want it.

What’s more, this spot is conveniently located just around the corner from its sister restaurant, Main Street Noodles, sharing not just the neighbourhood but also their affordable prices under $20!

13. La Cantina

La Cantina in Whistler Village is a vibrant spot that brings the authentic Mexican street food experience to the heart of Whistler. Offering a colourful and casual dining atmosphere, it’s a hub for those in search of affordable, flavourful dining options in the area.

The menu at La Cantina is extensive, with thirteen different types of tacos being the star attraction. Ranging from traditional Carne Asada to the unique Rajas Poblanas. For the vegan or vegetarian visitor, dishes like the Vegan Chorizo or Mushroom Tacos are not to be missed.

Aside from tacos, La Cantina also serves sizable burritos, scrumptious bowls, and hearty soups and salads. The Burrito Bowls, particularly, are an excellent choice for a filling meal. They are a delectable mix of rice, beans, salsa, guacamole, and your choice of filling.

Don’t forget to sample their drink menu, which includes Mexican favourites such as Margaritas and Jarritos, and the classic Corona with lime. And if you’re in town on a Tuesday, make sure to take advantage of their Taco Tuesday deal, where all tacos are just $2.50, and Coronas are $4.

14. The Green Moustache

The Green Moustache features a menu loaded with 100 % organic, plant-based, and gluten-free options that don’t compromise on taste. Their mission of offering nutrient-rich, affordable meals makes it a top choice for a budget lunch in Whistler.

On a clear sunny day, their outdoor patio is the perfect place to watch the world go by.

The Crystal Lounge, a beloved late-night destination for locals, offers an irresistible combination of affordable wings, beer specials, and live music.

They host a variety of events including Karaoke Nights, Trivia Nights, Open Mic Nights, and more. Don’t miss out on their Happy Hour from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily, featuring delectable $0.35 chicken wings and enticing drink specials.

Happy hour at Crystal Lounge is a must-experience. With highly affordable beer and discounted eats, it provides a fantastic opportunity to enjoy great food and drinks without straining your budget. Plus, the lounge consistently plays the latest sports games and houses a pool table.

17. Harajuku Izakaya

Whistler’s restaurant scene lacks in some areas (more Chinese please!), but one area it excels in is Japanese cuisine. Harajuku and the Fuji Market are one of Whistler’s best hidden gems.

Tucked away in the Royal Bank Building in Whistler Village, Harajuku Izakaya is a must-visit for any foodie on a budget. First off, this place gives you a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine without the hefty price tag. I’m talking about delicious, quick, tapas-style food that doesn’t empty your wallet.

The vibe here is laid-back, to keep with the theme of informal Japanese gastropubs, or “izakayas”, that this eatery is modelled after. Plus, the interior is straight out of a vintage Japanese village – so cozy and inviting!

So if you’re in the mood to taste something new, Harajuku Izakaya is the perfect mix of charm, affordability, and mouthwatering food.

18. Hunter Gather

Next on this list of Whistler’s finest cheap eats is the one and only Hunter Gather. Located on Main Street, Hunter Gather boasts a menu inspired by locally-sourced ingredients and a laid-back atmosphere.

What I appreciate most about Hunter Gather is their commitment to sustainability and local produce. You can taste the freshness in every bite! Whatever you decide to order, make sure you get the Pemberton potatoes as a side (they are amazing!)

And let’s not forget about their craft beer selection! They source from local breweries, providing a diverse selection of brews that are perfect complements to their delicious food.

19. Pasta Lupino

If you’re in Whistler and hankering for an inexpensive yet delicious Italian-themed lunch, Pasta Lupino should be on your list. Pasta Lupino emphasizes freshly made, high-quality pasta dishes, it’s a perfect spot to indulge your Italian cuisine cravings without putting a dent in your wallet.

Pasta Lupino is where Matt and I had one of our very first dates. He introduced me to this hidden gem of a place when I very first moved to Whistler way back in 2016 – and the great thing is that since then, this restaurant hasn’t changed much. While prices have increased everywhere Pasta Lupino continues to be one of the more affordable eateries in Whistler, despite having some of the best quality food in town.

My personal favourite dish is their Chicken Parmesan (it’s one of the best I’ve ever had) All their pasta dishes come with a choice of soup or salad and basket of freshly baked focaccia. If nothing on the menu takes your fancy, they also have a create your own menu – I recommend the Spinach Cesare pasta with Alfredo sauce and chicken cutlet!

What really sets Pasta Lupino apart, though, is the surprising affordability of its menu. With a selection of pasta dishes at a mere $9.95 CAD on the lunch menu, it’s a godsend for the budget-conscious diner.

20. Creekbread

Creekbread is another cozy joint in Creekside specializing in scrumptious wood-fired flatbreads that are light on the wallet but bursting with flavour. The ambiance is laid-back, just the kind of casual setting that makes you feel right at home.

My top recommendation, without a doubt it’s the Pemberton Potato Pie. This isn’t your typical flatbread. It’s a mind-blowing combination of organic potatoes, roasted garlic, spinach and topped with mozzarella, edam and asiago cheeses. Trust me, one bite of this, and you’ll understand why it’s my go-to choice every time I visit Creekbread!

21. Roland’s Creekside Pub

Roland’s Creekside Pub is a hidden gem in Whistler located away from the crowded village centre. This friendly neighbourhood joint offers a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the mountains.

Roland’s is the place I go when I want a very casual local vibe and comfort food. The menu features an enticing assortment of comfort pub food such as their mouth-watering burgers to their ever-popular fish and chips. The pub also boasts an impressive selection of locally brewed beers.

22. Dubh Linn Gate Pub

Dubh Linn Gate is a charming Irish pub serving hearty draughts of Guinness, comforting pub cuisine, and lively tunes. The menu features traditional comfort food dishes such as Bangers and Mash with mushy peas, Fish and Chips, and the Cottage Pie, all generously portioned and reasonably priced.

Beyond beer, their drink menu includes over 20 varieties of single malt scotches and whiskies, featuring selections from the Highlands, Island Malts, Blended Whiskey, and Lowland & Speyside.

Dubh Linn Gate hosts one of the best happy hours in Whistler, their “After Apres” runs from 5-7 pm, Sunday to Friday, where you can enjoy BC Craft Beers, Highballs and house wines at discounted rates.

The Crystal Lounge might be known for their cheap wings deal, but I personally think the wings at Dubh Linn Gate are better! They’re actually some of the best wings I’ve had anywhere – who’d have thought an Irish pub would serve amazing chicken wings?!

23. Splitz Grill

Splitz Grill takes pride in serving quality food at prices that make it one of the best go-to spot for cheap eats in Whistler. This casual eatery offers a variety of customizable burgers – be it beef, chicken, or veggie – with a plentiful choice of toppings that include bacon, mushrooms, pineapple, and peppers.

The menu isn’t limited to burgers though, it also features poutine, chicken fingers, hot dogs, ice cream, and milkshakes. To top it all off, they host a daily special between 2-5 pm where food and drinks are priced attractively at $6, making their already cheap menu even more budget-friendly. If you want my personal favourite menu item, try the Splitz Fries (and add bacon!)

24. Pizzeria Antico

Looking for a deal? Between 3 and 5 pm daily, Pizzeria Antico runs its Happy Hour, making it an excellent choice for budget-friendly dining options in Whistler. Their extensive beverage offerings encompass local BC beers and wines, as well as a variety of cocktails, or if indecision strikes, they offer a flight to sample the best of local brews and vintages.

Lookout for their famous Wednesday deal – for just $23 you can order any pizza from their menu, coupled with a refreshing beer, after 5 pm. It’s an unbeatable bargain for a delicious, yet affordable meal in Whistler. Make sure to seize this fantastic deal and indulge in a delightful midweek escape at Pizzeria Antico.

25. The Old Spaghetti Factory

The Old Spaghetti Factory in Whistler is an excellent meal that’s value for money. Their menu is extensive, offering a wide range of dishes to suit various tastes. The size of the restaurant is also a plus, as it means you stand a good chance of securing a table even during busy weekends.

My first time ever experiencing an Old Spaghetti Factory was actually in Victoria back in 2021. In 2022 I had a friend visiting Whistler from the UK and we decided to eat here to save some money. I was really impressed by everything, the service and food were really good, especially for a chain restaurant.

Given the generous portion sizes, The Old Spaghetti Factory easily ranks among the best budget-friendly restaurants in Whistler.

26. Southside Diner

Whenever you’re in Whistler and craving a scrumptious, affordable breakfast or brunch, Southside Diner should be your first stop.

The Southside Diner is my local breakfast haunt in Creekside, it’s my go-to spot for an all-American breakfast. The place has a unique retro charm that I love, and it’s known for its generous breakfast offerings and its warm, friendly service. It’s a hit with us locals as well as with tourists.

But don’t think Southside Diner is only for breakfast. They also have a lunch menu featuring sandwiches, burgers, and salads that are just as tempting.

27. Mongolie Grill

If you’re hunting for a unique, budget-friendly dining experience in Whistler, Mongolie Grill is the place to go. This place has been delighting food lovers since 1996 with its unique dining approach that allows you to be the architect of your own meal!

You get to handpick your favourite ingredients from an extensive selection of fresh meats, seafood, and veggies. Next, you flavour it up with your choice from an array of delectable sauces. Your chosen ingredients get weighed, and then the magic begins. Your meal is grilled to perfection right in front of your eyes! The theatre of it is just as enjoyable as the meal itself.

To wrap it all up, you’ve got your choice of jasmine or brown rice to accompany your stir-fry. There are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available too.

The Wildwood Café is one of my go-to spots for brunch in Whistler. Tucked away south of Whistler Village in Function Junction, Wildwood Cafe serves delicious, affordable breakfasts and lunches. This hidden gem is often frequented by the locals of Whistler.

The menu at Amsterdam Cafe & Pub is a treat for those who love classic pub grub. From savoury chicken wings and loaded nachos to hearty burgers and sandwiches with prices that won’t burn a hole in your pocket, making it a great option for cheap eats in Whistler.

But what’s a pub without some good beer, right? Well, Amsterdam Cafe & Pub doesn’t disappoint. They’ve got a great selection of local and international beers on tap, all at prices that are hard to beat. If you’re looking for the best pizza in Whistler – you’ve found it! Functional Pie is definitely a hidden locals gem in Whistler, located in the Function Junction area. While this is the best pizza I’ve had in Whistler, it’s also the most expensive. But trust me, it’s worth every penny.

31. Earl’s

Although some menu items are on the higher side, the best time to dine at Earl’s is during their Happy Hour. Earl’s likes to keep things interesting with their constantly changing menu, but there are a few staples that I always order when I stop by.

The sushi tacos are my absolute favourite Happy Hour menu item and drink of choice is always the Mai Tai. If you are dining outside of Happy Hour times, the cajun chicken and warm potato salad is always so satisfying.

32. Milestones

Milestones stands out as one of the best places to dine on a budget in Whistler, especially during their Happy Hour. This is the perfect opportunity for a fantastic meal without the high-end price tag.

Their Happy Hour menu features a diverse selection of appetizers, handcrafted cocktails, draft beers, and fine wines at unbeatable prices. You definitely need to try their frozen Bellini – it never disappoints!

Whenever I stop by Milestones Happy Hour, we always order several appetizers to share. It’s perfect for a group of friends looking to try a bit of everything without spending a fortune.
