Mamquam Falls Hike In Squamish [2025 Guide]

Mamquam Falls is a stunning hiking trail near Squamish, BC. The hike to reach the falls is relatively easy and features a stunningly secluded waterfall. This waterfall was once a hidden gem, it has recently grown in popularity.

Although Mamquam Falls may not be as impressive as other waterfalls in Squamish, it’s location and serene setting make it something magical. At just 62 feet it’s certainly not anywhere near as mighty at the nearby Shannon Falls.

The vibrant rainforest transforms this Squamish trail into one of the most visually appealing short hikes in Squamish. The hike itself takes around 30-40 minutes and is a great addition to any Sea to Sky Highway drive.

I have ventured to this waterfall on several occasions now and each time it has been busier. Although it is still a relatively quiet area in comparison to other Squamish attractions, I still recommend coming earlier in the day. Read on to find out how to find Mamquam Falls!

Getting To Mamquam Falls From Vancouver

To reach Mamquam Falls from Squamish, start your journey on Highway 99 North (Sea-to-Sky Highway). Around 7.5 km (5 minutes) after you pass the Sea to Sky Gondola, turn right onto the Mamquam River Forest Service Road. This is an unpaved road that may be tricky to navigate in a low-clearance vehicle.

Keep driving until you reach a crossroads, take the left turn until you reach the parking lot. You will come to a noticeable parking lot on the left and a yellow BC Hydro gate on the left. This is the trailhead. There is no obvious signing here for the trailhead – read the section which goes into more detail.

Please note that this road is not maintained in the winter and may be inaccessible if there has been recent heavy snowfall. It is recommended to check local road conditions before departing. Parking at the trailhead is free. Remember to leave all valuables at home.

Mamquam Falls Trailhead

The trailhead for Mamquam Falls isn’t clearly signposted. It is a loop trail that can be done clockwise or counter-clockwise. There are two ways to reach the falls from the Parking lot. The first is from the top of the parking lot, where you’ll see a wide dirt trail that loses elevation and leads to an area with picnic benches and an outhouse.

The other, is by walking down the gated dirt road directly to the right of the parking lot. Keep walking until you see a wide opening on your left, just before the bridge. As you get closer you’ll see two different trails, both lead to the Falls. This is the faster route if you are only wanting to view the falls and head back up (but I recommend experiencing the whole trail!)
